Poetry: Ballari Sen

Ballari Sen
Wild Strawberries

Harvesting chips of strawberries
with wild berries of pathos
signing off for a day

Endearing shoelace and powdered
grace of school uniform as we
return down the hill cart road

willows and chestnuts wither a breeze

Deep inside my breath
I leave myself on a tiny raft
scaffolding hues of a trodden past

Forest destined to grieve through
hidden doorways, the terrace beside
our guava trees when parrots swear
by a ripening

Each fragment of a year long produce
like thinking lines tend to perform
the lost hardening of guava flowers
slowly smearing

waves of kojagori alpona over my forehead

Supernova

Billion star- ashes, how long will it take to evolve a darkness between, filling gaps
through you and me
Eternal dots, the three points tending to infinity, whom I call a measure of separateness in -between
Can I really stay without you tomorrow!

Like long tunnels, how we transformed into a summer solstice, mercury barged up, gathered wings, fireflies intoxicated with the flicker, the old thirst touched our necks to flames

You saw how I ruffled to another plumage, brutal killing stations, your face turned into a sharpened impostor overnight
That was when, few depths beneath a new love was born
