SUNDRY ROLES AND WOMEN                                                        

Women, you can achieve anything you want,

Never give up saying, “No, I can’t!”

Women, you are the source of power,

You should not waste your hour

 In the bower!

 Rights and justice, you must regard,

 If humiliated at all, off your guard!

 Even if none stands by you,

 Stand alone, prove your mettle,

 Taking up the cue!

Women, you rule the world with men,

Women, you shouldn’t be dealt like hen,

Women, half the sky is yours!

Go fight for your rights,

If needed, cry yourself hoarse!

You are the Queen by the King,

You can rule, sit or sing!

You are kind, noble, generous!

If need be, you can brandish the sword,

Fight off your foe—

Marvellous!

Dr. Ketaki Datta, an Associate Professor of English at a Kolkata-based college, has to her credit, several academic publications, two novels, two poetry collections and many translations. She had been interviewed by Prof. Elisabetta Marino, University of Rome, archived by Flinders University, Australia. Her latest poetry collection Urban Reflections: A Dialogue Between Photography and Poetry has been published by KIPU, University of Bielefeld, Germany, with Professor/Photographer Wilfried Rausser. She is a regular reviewer of poetry with Compulsive Reader, USA. She interviewed poet Lucha Corpi of San Francisco, in 2018. She is the Regional Editor, India, of the theatertimes.com, headed by Prof. Magda Romanska, Emerson College, Boston, U.S.A.
