Poetry: Mark Young

Mark Young
Profligacy

In the last
ten minutes
of the old

year he wrote
six 200-page
novels but dis-

carded them
all in the first
minute of the

new because
he couldn’t
think of an

appropriate
title for
any of them.
***

Tourmaline

&

eigenvalues

& the
other

faint

shifts & drifts

that
transcribe
the
window

in
place

of
rain.
***

First / ph(r)ase of / a morning raga

Which side
of myself

do I de-
cide to

side with
today?
***

The birds

in the tree
so small I

see them as
movement

rather than
substance.

Sorry, Elon

     Used copies of
marine erosion &
     glaciation have
rear spoilers to
     minimize the effects
of turbulence from
     passing electric cars.
