Special Edition: Waiting for a miracle

Paramita Mukherjee Mullick

Paramita Mukherjee Mullick

She waits, waits and waits
Outside the bank the whole day.
The bank has not opened for days.
But she still waits outside the door.

She waits, waits and waits.
She waits for the little money saved in the bank
To buy bread and milk for her little ones.
She waits in her black mourning dress.

She waits, waits and waits
Hoping against hope she waits.
She has six mouths to feed back home.
Her husband had died in the war.

She waits, waits and waits.
She waits for the bank to open.
She waits to nourish her little ones.
She waits for a miracle to happen.
