Ask for Grace

We ask for grace and let our hope arise;
in times of turbulence it will appear.
We ask for grace and let our hope arise.

When waters muddy nothing seems too clear
we cling to hope and pray our peace will last.
In times of turbulence it will appear.

When life has challenges we must get past,
we struggle just surviving through each day.
We cling to hope and pray our peace will last.

From deep inside plead serenity stay
and light will guide us during troubled times.
We struggle just surviving through each day.

So when we struggle through life’s depressed clime,
seek solace knowing that this will soon pass
and light will guide us during troubled times.

In times when our troubles seem to amass,
we ask for grace and let our hope arise.
Seek solace knowing that this will soon pass.
We ask for grace and let our hope arise.

Ode to the Sun

As glistening rays break up haze,
for warmth of sun we give our praise.
Blue morning glory shows its face.
White baby’s breath as fine as lace.
The palette does truly amaze.

Uncertain weather starts some days.
Clouds swirling in a confused maze.
Today sun wins, often the case …
glistening rays.

Enjoy the sun brightly ablaze,
which follows rain of yesterdays.
As flowers grow so fast the pace,
the first tomato wins the race.
Anticipating bright midday’s
glistening rays

Ship of the Present

Long ago I boarded a ship, ‘The Past’
which was noted to shake, shudder, and creak.
I had a feeling the ride wouldn’t last
as the boat was old and the sails were weak.
One day, a tempest formed so very fast,
as for shelter, there was no time to seek.

A storm strengthened quickly, winds blew, rain poured.
The ship took on water and began to sink.
While my only thought was to pray, “Please, Lord,
there was no way out of this I did think.
Next, I heard someone yell, “Man overboard,”
and the ship was submerged, quick as a wink.

I tried to swim in the strong ocean waves;
where I was going I hadn’t a clue.
With no expectations of being saved,
I was convinced that my life here was through.
Though while I swam on trying to be brave,
sky turned a magnificent shade of blue.

I swam ‘til too tired to swim any more,
then rested while in the water I tread.
Never in my life quite so scared before,
all I thought of was home and my safe bed.
With no idea what the future had in store,
my entire being was filled with deep dread.

In the distance, I thought I saw a plane,
proximity to fate played with my mind?
Exhaustion must have driven me insane.
to me, Lady Luck is not that kind.
It seems she looks upon me with disdain;
Is it possibly me they would find?

Helicopter appears, a rope drops down,
I just cannot believe my weary eyes.
It would seem that the lost has now been found;
‘twas such a grand and glorious surprise.
Soon, I am once again on solid ground;
from this, new goals and outlooks arise.

From now on, I’ll wisely select my ship,
only on the one of present set sail.
When others come to entice me, I’ll skip
for I’ll never again travel that trail.
From now on I’ll carefully plan my trip;
a good life in the present will prevail.
