Poetry: Joel Schueler

Soluble

      ‘For what, exactly, is soluble?’
      — Me & my CONSCIENCE

Cherry whiskers and green tea
Miss World swam out the door,
To a lair, la gare
Whichever.
Meeting whose girl at the prom?
Back up time with hourly gong,
Lying next to a cesspool of blossoms
Is an inconsolable oak;
Hereafter a desertion of time
Is woven into cradles.
How much do they want you?
For they can see for
hours and hours and hours now,
Stupid face
Innocent embrace
You beautiful creature

You.
