young and unadorned

no dyeing in machines:

dreams to come
in darkest dark
the fireflies come
just a few flecks
for a few seconds

while I breath in
and breath out
in controlled calm

reminding
the flecks are
a hypoglycemia fake out
are dreams to come
pinging off
an optic nerve

hand-me-downs

for scads of years
my wardrobe
was under the influence
of a much older woman
was scrutinized
up down and sideways
with infinitesimal regard
for current style

hand-me-downs
a boom and a curse
