Mahatma

Shristee Singh

In a million year, a star shined,

And a devout angel India did find.

Non-violence was his tool,

During British Raj, he made satyagrah rule.

When Britshers were a rogue,

He ensured sawadeshi was in vogue.

Spinning charkha, he whirled in patriotism,

Breaking barriers of scepticism,

Uplifting the downtrodden,

His satsangs made everyone's outlook broaden.

Uniting the nation for a cause

His endeavor for swaraj was worth applause.

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

In every breath of his compassion unfurled.

An epitome of simple living, high thinking,

He uplifted the nation when it was sinking.

Bapu and Mahatma he was lovingly called,

Solicitude and kindness from him sprawled!

A legend… not gone,

His saga still carries on.
