You Marched On...

Renette Dsouza
You marched on with a dream in your heart
With truth, as the only way of life,
You marched teaching self sacrifice to all
Through the winds of struggle and strife.
You marched on, spreading love and peace
In spite of the obstacles that lay ahead,
Using satyagraha as an antidote to coercion
And non-violence as the path on which you tread.
Fierce in your beliefs, you surged ahead
Fighting the evils of blind superstition
Fighting for the distressed and downtrodden
Walking in silence and determination.
You marched with profound wisdom
In your every thought, word and deed.
As you sailed through victorious
Over the ones who made us bleed.
