Exclusive: Best of Women Poetry: Edited by Padmaja Iyengar-Paddy
WOMAN POWER
In the beginning, God created Woman for Man
To be his faithful friend and companion.
If man treats her as a God-send
She will always remain man’s best friend.
In my wonderful native country of Trinidad.
Women are treated with the highest regard.
A Woman President and a former Woman Prime
Minister.
A woman installed as the Presbyterian Church’s
Moderator.
Days for regarding women as the weaker sex have
gone.
Everywhere they are shining out and showing they
can be strong.
All over the world, that fact has been recognised.
They hold top-paying jobs and that is no surprise.
Speakers of the house, Government ministers,
Corporate Execs,
Women have held these posts with elegance and great
depth.
Without women, who in this world can survive?
They are blessed with the power to give life.
Women are needed in almost every workplace
For their creative skills, gentleness, and airs of
grace.
They are of immense value in every family
And are truly the bedrock of society.
Women are excelling in all professions
Some of them even rule over large nations.
Women are definitely equal in status to men.
That was always God’s plan for women.
