A Father’s Hope
My Son,
I hope You see the world
as cleanly as one
can.
I hope You know
that You define
what it means
to be a
Man.
I hope that when
You see Them,
You see Them
for who
They
are.
Whole.
Complex.
And Beautiful.
Deeply damaged,
and deeply scarred.
I hope You recognize, in
eyes,
broken dreams
and lost direction.
I hope You know
They’ll see you,
through Their
lost and broken lenses.
I hope You know
that what They see
is a reflection of Themselves.
I know My hope won’t set You
Free.
Only
You
can
Free Yourself.
I hope You do not judge Them.
Rather, strive to
Understand.
And, I hope You
Never.
Ever.
let Them
Define You as a Man.
