The Kitchen Spices: Nivedita Roy

Nivedita Roy
Snooty salt bragged about his irreplaceable strength
Chillies and turmeric rooted for theirs
The cumin, the fennel, the coriander spluttered with delight
The cinnamon and nutmeg were aromatic with pride
The cooking oils ‘stuck’ out a grin
Who could resist their oily spin?
The ginger garlic duo wondered on the ‘pungent ‘talks
The onion cried while its rings were sliced
The green veges were convinced of their vitamins
The chaotic kitchen had a heated debate
Who is the spiciest of them all?
Whilst the others needed to prove a point
the stove chose to remain calm as he knew he was ‘lit’
No dish would be served without it’s swish
A pinch of this, a dash of that
But the fire was needed to keep it all intact!
