The Plague Paradise

Soma Debray

The first raindrops touch the ground
As plague twines around mankind
Hissing black fumes of death.
Pink cherry blossoms
Float in the air
Whispering sweet nonsense.
Black lips cool the fever flushed cheek
As Grim Reaper walks the floors creak.

Plague, the mistress of death
Steal lives.
But cannot drown the lock-gate of birth
As new lives glide down the gap.

Hope lives on amidst the chaos
Fluid and sweat are not enough
To drown blossoming life.
The tight embrace
The warmth of the kiss
Flow down the veins of life
Hurtling headlong
Towards a new destiny.
