MAHATMA MUSINGS … (Gandhian Philosophy)

Padmaja Iyengar-Paddy
In my grave I keep restlessly turning,
A ceaseless fire within keeps burning,
Of endless thoughts there’s a churning,
For peace, I keep perennially yearning …

A peaceful India
A casteless India
A nonviolent India
A free and fair India

Are they all the figments of my India dream?
Caste now has layers and layers of cream!
Is peace just a word touted in every poem?
Mere words - tolerance, fair play, freedom?

Godse’s bullets didn’t hurt me.
He did what he thought was right.
Let go has always been my policy
To demonstrate freedom in a new light.

Nonstop restlessness I brave.
Illusions of peace I still have.
I keep on turning in my grave.
For a genuine closure, I crave
