Poetry: Muralidharan Parthasarathy

Overnight

“Are you new to this place?
you never request to make the workspace a roof overnight
that will expose the employer
into the scanner of law enforcing agencies asap”
The security pushed me out

Otherwise, I got only pieces of advice and suggestions
after I exited a shared roof
due to a feud

Tomorrow I must buy a sleeping bag I resolved
Tonight I must look for
a place unknown to homeless

Story of a sow

It all began
like small conversation with my son
as we moved up the hill I explained to him
nobody planted a single tree in the forests
and the forest sprang up and proliferated of its own
He was really thrilled
to learn how some seeds fly after the fruit bursts
or how a bird or animal dropping takes the seed far away
and spread elsewhere
Throughout the picnic he was obsessed with collection of seeds
Now the realtor just had a look at the sack of seeds in the garage
and promised to give it away to some NGO
my son is not with me anymore
He is an architect
faraway in another country
in charge of urban projects
