Bond
All that was audible was sound of crickets
Rustling of leaves
An owl’s hoot
All I could make out was glowing grey dots
And darkness
I froze, horror stricken
As I heard footsteps approaching
And something growling
Then a shrill sound startled me
Setting off my alarm
Thank fully it was only a dream
As I left my room
I saw everyone in the family room chatting, chirping happily
I stood there Watching them
With an amazing feeling
It is the greatest joy in the world
Knowing that there are people
Who got my back
I am who I am
Without any false fa├зade, around them
In my highest high and lowest low
They always brought comfort through all of it
It is always nice to have someone in my corner
It is normal
To have arguments, frictions
And conflicts of interest time to time
A family endures through millions of emotions
And thousands of feelings
Time might part our ways
But the bond of love keeps us rooted.

Winter: new beginnings
Once a blooming plant
Is frosted now
The winter has been long and harsh
I am waiting for the fog to clear
And frost to form no more
Now, severe frost bite
Has left a part of the plant dead
I will have to prune the perished
To revive and recover
Whatever is left
Life must go on
Leaving the pain behind
Now that the sun is out
And l am out of the dark alley
I will see some new sprouts, finally
The warm rays
Has brought the plant to life
Flowers are swaying
With the gentle breeze
Soaked with the sweet fragrance
And my soul is appeased.

Oranges
Looking for someone around
Who will peel the oranges
I wanted to pound
No one can be found
I went out to scout
A neighbour I could hound
Oranges are messy
I must come up with some cogency
An old uncle walked by
At last, my plan I could comply
Childhood memories are like oranges
Peels are bitter
Seeds you must sow
For life to grow
Pulp is sweet
Sometimes sour
Sweet and sour are flavours of life
They say stay away from strife
Do not jive
Simple mantra to thrive
Oranges bring back the memories
Sweetness stays in the heart
Bitterness lingers along
It keeps one grounded
Absurd it may have sounded
They say learn from your past
Keep upright your mast
Memories are lesson
Leave, long lasting impression.
