by Robert Maddox-Harle
My interest in, and love of film photography started when I was about seven or eight years of age. At school I loved technical drawing the most of all my subjects, as soon as I was able, I got a job in an engineering drawing office, then a little later in consulting engineers’ and architects’ offices.
Drawings are immediate and embrace the very important proprioceptive action between brain and fingers. The more technology infiltrates our lives the more it pushes me away from the creative use of technology, and hence from my techno-surrealist computer art towards the joy of using pencil and paper, and conterminously film photography.
AI (Artificial Intelligence – some say Artificial Imbecile), is a very powerful and perhaps useful TOOL, which I've never used in creating art, I believe this will be the final dumbing-down scenario of human-kind. Welcome to Huxley's Epsilon World.
The following are a selection of my pencil/pastel/charcoal drawings done on art paper over the years.
