Special Edition: Toolika Rani

Toolika Rani

Farewell!

Originating from the mouth of a glacier
under the heat of the sun
the water emerges from the womb of snow
in a trickle and flows
as a gurgling stream
rushing over the rocks and
caressing the plains;
Metamorphosis is not always bad,
From me you go, only to be
a new form of me.
Departure, separation, alienation
or a euphemism, ‘the farewell’
what shall I say?
Nothing ever departs fully.
You are bound to return to the source
over and over again,
and resume the journey of a wanderer,
only to realise
you go from me, only to be…
a new form of me.
