Anita Panda |
Broken, betrayed, belittled or dumped,
Bearing searing pain, heartbreak and humiliation she braved it all!
Slandered, shamed, spurned, dumped or condemned!
Raped, aborted, abused by a brutal world stoically she faced it all
Turning her scars into her beauty and her grief into her strength.
Whipped, worshipped, assaulted or left to bleed alone,
Brahmin, Muslim, Dalit, Black or White!
Daughter, sister, wife, mother, lover or companion
Single, married, widowed, divorced or remarried
Like the trampled dandelion she bloomed again and rose.
Sita, Sati, Draupadi, Nirbhaya or Malala,
Out of the centuries of misogyny and patriarchy she silently bore!
Out of the shackles of her oppression and submission
She blazed like a scorching conflagration in fury!
With the scars on her soul glittering like her medals of courage.
Out of her long history of prejudice and discrimination,
Like Durga, Kali and Shakti deified she rebelliously rose!
Unleashing her fiery feminine energy within
Like the leaping waves and raging tides she arose.
Through the abyss of her anguish, fears and tears,
From trauma to triumph, from victim to victor she arose!
Like the trapped bird out of her gilded cage
Liberated and unfettered she soared!
Broken but undefeated she arose.
