Ruchi Raj Thakur

Assistant Professor of English, HPNLU, Shimla.

Dr. Ruchi Raj Thakur is working as Assistant Professor of English at Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla since October 2016. She is a former student of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla from where she pursued M.A. English and M.Phil. Her M.Phil.is on the topic, “STORIES BY EXPATRIATE WOMEN WRITERS: PATTERNS OF ASSIMILATION AND ASSERTION, DISPLACEMENT AND OVERLAPPING PERSPECTIVES”. Her Ph.D., also from Himachal Pradesh University, is on HISTORY, CULTURE AND SOCIAL COMMITMENT IN YASHPAL’S SELECTED WORKS.  Diaspora, Expatriate Writings and social issues pertaining to the underprivileged, disregarded and oppressed sections of society have been her area of research. She is also exploring newly-founded synthesis such as Literature and History, New Historicism and Literature, Literature and Law. Currently, she is writing a paper on Human Right Activism and Literature.


She has to her credit many research papers published in National online and offline Journals.  She has also presented papers in several national and international seminars/conferences organised in India. She has worked as Assistant Professor in the School of Basic Sciences and Language, Department of Communications Skills, at Bahra University where she taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level for five years. At Bahra University, she got an opportunity to teach various subjects such as Communication skills (mba), workshop on business communication (bba), technical english (b.pharma), cs/gd (bca), english-i (ballb), technical communication (b.tech).  She was a member of the Finishing School established by Bahra University with an objective to groom the overall personality of the students and to prepare them for job interviews. She has also worked as the Counsellor at IGNOU for FEG and MEG programs offered by from September 2010 to June 2012.
