Poetry: Paramita Mukherjee Mullick (Tagore Special)

Paramita Mukherjee Mullick

THE ORDINARY GIRL

(Inspired by the poem of the same name by Tagore)

Oh Rabi Thakur! Tell Malati, she is extraordinary in her ordinariness.
Her heart knows how to love.
Her eyes know how to express.
Her hands know how to work hard.

Oh Rabi Thakur! Tell Malati, she is extraordinary in her ordinariness.
Her love encompasses all.
Her thoughts are only for others.
Her mind comes up with ideas to support all.

Oh Rabi Thakur! Tell Malati, she is extraordinary in her ordinariness.
She doesn’t have to go to great gatherings for giving speeches.
She doesn’t need adulation from people of different parts of the world.
Because in her incompleteness, she is complete; she is the WORLD.
