‘GURUDEV’ RABINDRANATH TAGORE...

(09 May, 1861 - 07 August, 1941)

Rabindranath Tagore known as ’Gurudev’,
To an ever-grateful Indian nation he gave,
An evocative National Anthem so patriotic,
Sublime, enlightening, aesthetic and poetic!

The first ever Indian to win a Nobel prize,
For Gitaanjali that touched literary highs,
Gurudev’ was a master of many fine arts,
His music and painting won many hearts.

He founded the Viswa Bharati University,
At Santi Niketan, that promoted diversity.
Satyajit Ray and Amartya Sen are its alumni,
Though lately, it has earned some calumny.

As a proud Indian, this is my humble homage
To ‘Gurudev’, multi-faceted beyond compare.
