Summer 2024: Jayanthi Manoj

This Summer in my Garden

The purple heart with its pink teeny-weeny flowers
and dramatic foliage,
The peached easter lily with its baby-skinned blooms,
And the all-time resilient aloe vera
have a disquiet conversation
in my garden
on the near-scathing sunny attacks
of summer
and the calamitous irresponsibility of human nature.
