In an alien,Overseas town
The immigrant
Gazes from the terrace
Of a high-rise
The busy street
Drawing a sense of mobility
From the moving traffic
Below
And civilians.
For six months
At a stretch
Confined to this tardy routine
Of applying and reapplying
Sans a productive job
And a vehicle
Is draining.
Testing times!
For this
Energetic and dynamic
Young lad
Who had come starry-eyed
To this land of promise
He is like
A caged animal
Restive and confined
Roaring to explore…
For him
No occupation
Is stasis!
As if the mighty Earth
Has stopped
Its normal motion.
