Limerick: Gopal Lahiri

Gopal Lahiri
1.

There once was a tiny sparrow
She was with me in joy and sorrow.

Scary, she watched day and night-
No enemy was in sight.

I felt that she wanted a bow and arrow.

2.

Rosy, the bunny is always calm
She wants to play with tin and drum.

She dresses in yellow and white
Never sleeps in the summer night.

She came here alone from Rotterdam.

3.

Once I did see a fire ball
Falling over the Town hall.

I never could tell the tale
After the day-dream spell.

Woke up only on mother’s call.
