Dr Ihsan-ur-Rahim Malik graduated from Amar Singh College Srinagar in 2004. He did his Master’s in
English from the University of Kashmir (2006) with a first position and a gold medal. Later he
pursued his PhD at the University of Jammu on the subject “Ideological Conflict in the Dramatic
Works of Byron and Shelley”, completing it in 2009. He joined the Department of English, Central
University of Kashmir, in February 2012 as Assistant Professor. Prior to that he worked in the same
capacity at the South Campus of the University of Kashmir at Anantnag from Oct 2011 to Feb 2012. It
is pertinent to mention that in March 2010 he had been appointed lecturer in English (10+2) in the
Department of School Education, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. In this capacity he held
several positions viz. Research Officer (English) in the Language Wing of the State Institute of
Education Srinagar, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Inspection and Monitoring Wing,
Directorate of School Education, Kashmir and Provincial Coordinator, Middle Standard Examination,
also at the State Institute of Education, Srinagar. His areas of specialization are Romantic Drama,
Translation Studies and Non-fictional Prose. Dr Malik has thus far participated in several national
seminars and workshops. Since the completion of his Master’s degree in 2006 he has been actively
involved, besides teaching, in academic research and writing, contributing articles to several national
journals and local dailies.
