On gastronomic delights, art of cooking… and other things

Appetite grows with eating, says Angeston. But the thirst goes away with drinking.

My appetite comes to me while eating.

June Setu brings scents of the spring, rains and select food flavours for you, all packed together in this issue, for the esteemed reader.

A rich melange of writing on foods, their careful preparations, in-house styles and aesthetic presentation---a different territory for creativity and exploration through kitchen secrets and ingredients, followed by the generations in the family.

And now the heartening news that the Setu bilingual journal has recently crossed a 3-million-plus mark, all because of your love and support to this online monthly.

Time to celebrate this fresh milestone in a short journey of six years!
Happily we plan to keep on serving the discerning community of readers and writers alike by further innovations and more calls, timely and relevant to the changing times.

Hope to have your ongoing and enduring support in coming months as well.

This month, it is a content-heavy edition, with many topics covered in a rainbow of artistic sort.

The special section, this time, carries some delicious stuff for the connoisseurs of fine dining and varied tastes.

Aptly titled, it sums up all these things: “Smells, Colours, Textures, Histories: Food narratives: Links to the Past and Present.”

Food, memories and textures that connect the diasporas and home states through the full platter and the cooked dishes and recipes, even in the foreign locales. Best writings, theme-based, curated diligently for your literary and artistic tastes evoking old and fresh smells in new or old places wafted on the wings of memory.

It is an art and science that defines attitudes: individual and collective.
Here is this one, a fantastic take on things gastronomic and tastes by the chef Hillary Sterling:

Food is romantic. Soul. It's about putting everything in your heart onto the plate. Hoping it's perceived well. Honestly, it's about passion. It's about love.

The general section has prose, poetry, translation, photo-essay and review by other happening signatures.

Thank you all for being there: contributors; editors and readers, every month!

The great Setu family out there!

Please enjoy.

Take care!
