Vinita Agrawal (Children's World)

Vinita Agrawal
Toady

The little toad by the lagoon
Lived alone under a mushroom
In rains when worms ran for shelter
Butterflies flew helter-skelter
Toady called them to share his room.

Now it so happened one bright day
the scorching sun was bright and gay
Toady was so hot he could cry
His warty skin began to dry
Water was must to keep heat at bay.

Fish and crabs invited him in
Water did sooth his shiny skin
Naturally he plonked right inside
Bliss, to feel water on all sides!
The sun wouldn’t make his dermis thin.

Helping others is a fine thing
It does makes you feel like a king
Be nice to everyone around
It’ll cheer you up on the rebound
So, go give out a happy ping!
