Light after death
It was a sad day for her,
The lights had gone out, forever!
She just sat there, listless and helpless,
Her world seemed to be collapsing, her life worthless!
The family was mourning,
A crowd of people gathered, sympathising,
Whispers and empty words of pity,
Surrounding and crushing her with their so called, empathy!
Everything seemed so dark and horrifying,
As her future seemed bleak and the present terrifying,
Somehow, she managed to remain calm by choice,
Somewhere then, she tried to find her own voice.
Now, she could see, away from the family and friends,
Her own two pillars standing erect,
Her daughters gazing at her, so direct,
They looked much at peace, holding their self,
With pride and confidence!
They looked at her with understanding,
Compassionate, non-judging, and truly empathising.
They weren’t weeping or howling,
Just nonchalant and resigned, carefully watching.
Suddenly, it dawned on her,
The lights of her life, are here.
Her girls, her own dear children,
Will become her guiding Lights then.
She will now live for them,
Raise them well, look after them,
All is not lost or gone,
Even his soul will be around for them.
She felt her confidence rise,
And decided to stand up tall,
She could feel the energy back in her house,
And see the sun rising in the distance.
She felt the beckoning of the dawn energising,
As the rays of the sun came out shining,
The Light gradually illuminating,
The dark corners of the house, finally awakening
Her thoughts and mind came back to the present,
She just held and cuddled her children close, content.
She felt grateful, hopeful and calm,
As the acceptance came, out went the regret.
