Three tanka poems

Joanna Ashwell

Poem 1

awake again
myself and the moon
with no need
for more light
to shape my home

poem 2

morning silence
not even the scratch
across paper
dwelling in the deep
of ink-block

poem 3

morning again
the same song
surrounds every wall
if my heart
could be so light
