Ms. Seena Sreevalson is a bilingual poet (English & Malayalam), translator and editor from Kerala, India. She writes poetry in English and Malayalam. Her major themes include feminine sensibilities, nature, ecological issues and social issues. She has presented her poems in several national and international poetry fests. She has compiled and edited three anthologies, that include The Current and Global Poetry, and Rhyming Words that consist of 

poems by poets across the globe.

ARCHES OF SOLITUDE

One day she decided to set fire,

The night around her.

She pulled out the poisonous fangs.

Curses were thrown in the wind.

Thorns… Storms… chaos….

Fire…. Fire…. Fire….

Language written for her burned.

Her language survived.

Her door to solitude opened,

Wilderness of a forest within her

spread scent of unknown flowers,

Ebbing of the raging sea inside her 

Made her dance.

The realm of her soul

filled with peace.

MYTH OF MEDUSA-DECONSTRUCTED

Revelations

She embraced love

And immersed into conflicts.

Sour fruits of painful love,

Summon to those desires.

Sighs are often

Interpreted

Ambiguously.

Inscriptions

Each strand of her hair

Like snakes that fume fire

Inscribes agony.

The broken wings of her mind

Still quivering with love.

The power of longing

Turns everything 

Hard stones.

Divine love that protects 

Calls conscious awareness.

Ms. Seena Sreevalson is a bilingual poet, Editor and translator from Kerala, India. She has compiled and edited two international anthologies of English poems namely The Current (2019) and Global Poetry (2020). She has received Poonthanam Yuva Sahithya Puraskaram. Seena works as an Assistant Professor of English in Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala. She is also a classical dancer who experiments with visual aspects of poetry.

THE DUEL

                                                         

Sometimes in dreams

Your moustache calls me for a duel.

I accept it.

When the bell rings

Unknown spectators howl and scream.

The distance between you and me

Will be shorter and wider.

Sometimes it all ends to begin.

The string of words

Tied to my heart bursts.

A legacy of burdens

Throbbing in the vein

Now gone forever.

And I will walk towards

The victory stand

Hands up.

A teacher by profession, Seena is an accomplished classical dancer who experiments in visual aspects of poetry. She successfully organized the International Poetry and Art Fest-2019 at Kodungalloor, Kerala and the Prime International Poetry Festival-2020 at Mannarkkad, Kerala.

The Silent Valley

Take a bus ticket to Attappadi
Get down at the Silent Valley
Walk along the muddy road for a while
See a narrow path
 besides the steeply hill
Watch the green elephants all around.
Listen their trumpet
Enjoy the turbulence of waterfall
Smell the  leaves
Feel the  fresh moisture of silent valley
A river slowly uncovers her veil.
Jiggling of her anklets
As a water fairy .
She traverse the rain forest
Absorbs the aroma of green wood,
Converse with the wild kingdom,
 soothes the valley below.
Beautiful River Kunthi flows gently
Perfectly caressing Silent valley.

THE MISSION

The predatory bands,

Trapped my alphabet.

Immutable souls caged.

The dark thick iron bars,

Whistled all nights.

Illuminated spirits,

Bleached dreamless nights.

Agony shrieked the deep silence,

Unfettered the bleeding life.

My stretched arms,

Overflowing breasts,

Whirl pooled the brain.

And the first arrow was shot.

WHEN MY HAIR CAUGHT FIRE

Was it when you scornfully laughed

Or licked with your eyes

I don’t remember

The volcano spouted smoke.

But when I realized your lecherous words

Those thirsty arms and greedy eyes

Orbiting me

My volcano erupted

The wounded soul gushed out

Burning flames washed the pain

Tongues of blaze swallowed the inhibitions

Then

You and your words are nothing

But a scar cursed never to fade.

THE PROS AND CONS

My hair is white

Though it shines black

My skin is very light

But you may wonder its depth

My smile is so scornful

Even if it looks pretty

My hands are too rough

Even though you feel spongy

My body is remarkably hot

Dare not to touch it

My heart is very cruel

it can be dangerous.
