Asha Bhandari: Figures of Thought: Collegiate Voices across Spaces

Your embrace was tight ,
 Tight enough
 To suffocate me.
Instead of a shield ,
It felt like a barrier
That I had to overcome.

I gifted myself some flowers,
I made myself smile.

I painted the grey spaces ,
 Made them bright.

I took care of myself ,
For withholding through tough times.

I realized my worth,
So now I always put myself first.

Author's Bio: Asha Bhandari is a student who likes to write in her free time. Not yet an expert when it comes to writing, she loves to pen down my thoughts and ideas in poetry and prose.
