Asha Bhandari: Figures of Thought: Collegiate Voices across Spaces

Suffocate

Your embrace was tight ,
 Tight enough
 To suffocate me.
Instead of a shield ,
It felt like a barrier
That I had to overcome.

Self-love

I gifted myself some flowers,
I made myself smile.

I painted the grey spaces ,
 Made them bright.

I took care of myself ,
For withholding through tough times.

I realized my worth,
So now I always put myself first.
