Spring, woman power, memoirs

“As a woman, I have no country. As a woman, my country is the whole world.”
---Virginia Woolf

March heralds the wondrous season of multi-splendored spring!
A season of hope and regeneration---light and fresh scents; budding flowers and an entire spectrum of bewitching colours!
Happening outside in meadows and plains, lighting up nooks and corners.
Changing landscapes---within and without---like a wizard!

Celebrated the world over for its sensory and auditory appeal, by poets, painters, writers, musicians and filmmakers, in varied forms.
The March edition of Setu is presented here with its own colours and sounds.

“Memoir”, this month's themed call, unveils memories, life experiences, moments and moods, lost forever in the swirling mists of time...but preserved in aching/remembering hearts forever!
A selection of fine writings capturing lost time!
that is the power of memoir…life accounts, stories told in intimate style, almost confessional, sharing with the readers certain things that need to be communicated, broadcast widely, with the audiences keen for this newly-popular genre of writing.
Writing that attempts negotiating spaces almost dim, dealing with past and ordinary narratives.
Take a look:

“The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”
–William Faulkner

“Your life story is a gift, and it should be treated as such.”
–Emily Gordon

Here you will find some moving writing, personal moments, remembrances of things past.
.
Special section focuses on the theme of Solitude of Soul and artistic ways of exploring that inner space by women poets, globally respected for their works. Works about being women and their changing roles in patriarchy.
Solitude of soul is about interiority and modes of expressing that.
And women poets are best to capture those silences and desires and other tendencies in moving imagery.

Lyrical voices curated with love, by the eminent poet-editor Padmaja Iyengar-Paddy.

Talking of her annual outing, Padmaja shares her feelings in an honest and sincere tone, her hallmark: "...there have been great learnings, as I had the first-hand experience of reading poems that let me into the soul of the women poets as they shared their insights on their own SOLITUDE OF SOUL, that also took me on my own journey within."

Very apt description!
A special field!
And some brilliant poetry!
.

Two calls!
Two sections: general and special.
Combined together in a single issue---the standard format.
Some fine stuff in prose, poetry and visuals selected carefully!

More than 3,453,477 page views so far!

The journey continues.
Thanks to you, the writers and guest-editors for a monthly magic called Setu!

Enjoy, please!
Best.
