Padmaja Iyengar-Paddy |
Relics of the past,
No matter how much
I try to erase,
Tend to resurface,
And cast their shadows,
On my today …
I run away and away,
From an unsavoury past,
That often brings on,
A bitter taste in my mouth…
But no, the lingering taste
Persists, and embitters,
My present!
My present struggles
To free itself,
From the shackles
Of a past that’s
Best forgotten…
How does one erase,
Imprints of memories
Deeply entrenched,
In one’s psyche
And one’s being?
They travel with me,
Wherever I go,
Constantly reminding
Me to forget them!!!
