Poetry: Dharmpal Mahendra Jain

Dharmpal Mahendra Jain
New Testament

The pages of the old book
Don't seem good to turn over.
So delicate and frail,
I fear they might tear.
This is the only book left
Where the message of love
Still conceives.

Modern volumes
Sleek and silky,
Capture the eye
And seem divine.
Modern gurus
With a charming gaze,
Unveil their version of
Holy places, sins, virtues,
And their consequences.
On these pages
In golden hue,
Lies a tale of hate.
The new book
Finds its way to homes
Far and near for free.

The Tongue

The tongue doesn't grow words,
If it did, it would be an aristocrat.
The Masters of sharp words tower over trees,
While the commoners of gentle words
Grow around them and might perish.

The tongue doesn't grow anything,
It's afraid, That many soft words could,
Mock the elite at anytime.
