The Speed

Rhyming rays reflecting
Upon the mingling mane
And the galloping hoof
Echoes the valour

He runs only runs

Stamping the soil
Nurturing the neighing neck
And the brown coat
That soaks the sun

He runs only runs

Leaving all those viles behind

Oxymoronic

Some say it the juicy
Some sour
Some like the skin dark
Some the shades dual
Some bite the hard coat
Some suck the pleasure

They differ yet they stay together

Existential

Vast and enormous
infinite blue
every drop reminds it's there
as she herself
alone she walks
alone she counts
each second and each drop
fuse together
and the finite meets the infinite

Vernal

The breeze conceives the fragrance
The gulmohar tucks the vermilion
And the bees herald
Spring has come

The blush in her cheeks
The drenched lips
And the rosy chin declares
Spring has come

Hues in the forest
And the waves in her breast
Both sing together
Spring has come

VIBGYOR

Her left hand is tinged with violet
The right indigo
The bare waist the vast ocean blue
Thighs the lustrous green
The bowl of her knees all yellowish
The feet smear with oranges
And the toes like a newly wed bride
Blushed red
She is Spring personied
All through her body play
The rainbow
Yet she is white
In heart
That fuses all the hues

The Hidden: Soumik Kumar De

And when he met her first
She was masked
Deep blue eyeballs, lavender frons
Air drawn locks and the pearly drops
Everything  mesmeric
Everything magnetic .

Yet he never heard her speak
Never saw her smile
The more mysterious was she
The more he got crazy.

And the day came finally
He put his hand upon hers
Eyes met the eyes
An aggression, a retreat
A whisper, a fast beat.

Still she was masked, still silent
But he grew more impatient
The mask was drawn, 'the hidden' shown
…………
The unveiled face downwards bent
        O horror! O horror!
The chin was burnt, he came to learn
         Of the attack brutal.

Moment passed, a deep hush
              A little linger
Kissed he now, the fleshless blush
       Finger touched the finger.

Soumik Kumar De (Children's World)

My Dream

Tra la lala la la
Trim trim trim
Last night I had
A very sweet dream.

For what you buy
All is free
A crayon, a candy,
Or a cookie it may be.

So don't worry, don't worry
If you have no money
Tra la lala la la
Trim trim trim.

Juggling

The little juggler
Came in our road
He has laughter
And a bag full of load

Threw he a ball
Ups and down
Rise they and fall
The sun and the moon.

Stretched he a rope
And a gesture did he make
Vanished everyone's hope
When the rope became a snake.

Life's Glory

I like the rainbow
For it has no arrow
I like the joy
That knows no sorrow

I like the meadow
That has no shadow
I like the light
That is full of halo

I like the fruits mellow
Dipped in orange and yellow
Life is deep
Nothing so shallow.

Together

Have you ever seen
A spent Shakespeare
Finding solace
On the lap of Shelley?
Or a tired Tagore
Taming Tolstoy?
Ever found a frisky Freud
Fathoming Francis Bacon?
Have they ever met
Langland and Larkin!
Or Donne and Dorothy
Dwelling on discourses?
Russell and Richardson
In the same row!
Oedipus and Othello
Sharing sorrows to each other?
Can you ever think
Antony leaves Cleo
Just to woo Shakuntala?
Imagine Arden
Just an inch from Wessex!
All these happen
Happen my dear
In the single shelf
Of my study room.

The Wall

I knew them all
3.4k in numbers
Smiling faces in framed circles
I acted
They reacted
With their smilies, memes and GIFs
With frownings and amazings
I would share
Everything with them
From my brand new guitar
To the house litter
From my recent hair cut
To that buttonless shirt
From my dinner
To oh the latest inner.

But the other day
As I found myself
Lying on the  white sheet
With gashes all over
Nowhere did I find
One from the 3.4k list
Someone was there though
Standing in a worried look.
The face that my blog gave no space
A friend of mine nakedhood.
Learnt I soon
How words differ
'Virtual' and 'virtuous'.

Missing

He tried to feed himself
With half plate of moon shines,
A little of verdurous grasses
And a tumbler full of mists
Sitting over the Faraglioni
He wanted to enjoy his meal
Flavoured with the
Aroma of wild Oleanders
Occasional thunders
And periodic flashes of lightnings
Would be his sole companion
The sapphire cloudless overhead
Would be his mistress

But soon someone from Porlock
Broke his reverie
And he found himself
Kept in his matchbox
From where it was
Well nigh difficult
To find only a dot of blue.

Soumik Kumar De: Poetry (Life, Cognition and Creativity)

Soumik Kumar De
The Clan

A row of skyscrapers
On the other side of the highway
And a patch of green
Just in front of the
Matchbox like apartments
A few saplings
Little dahlias, pinky roses
Or a few saffron marigolds
Nodding their twigs
As the night air lulls them all.

Yet the dew drops fall from
Their petals
Like the pearly drops of tear
For they well know
'Tis the graveyard
Where lie peacefully
All their forefathers
The gulmohar, the banyan or the peepal.
***

The Creepers

I saw them climbing
The balcony walls
Just beneath the window panes
Of my brand new 3 BHK
The white, yellow and red blossoms
Hanging from the green twigs
Reducing the off white wall papers
Of the rooms
The more I look at those creepers
The more I realize
 Its my memory actually
Creeping through my childhood days.
***

Touch

The other day
I discovered them
In my bay-window
Two, three and four
Cuddled together.
The white downy feathers
Turned them a bundle of cotton
All striving for their mother's beak
Offering little grains.

This made me recall
My mother
Sitting by the chula
Baking crispy chapatis for us
And how my little siblings
Would strive to have them hot
With love and curry.
***

Dusk

The thatched cottage
 Silhouetted against the sky
The crescent moon
Like a piece of pared nail
Peeps through the shadowy leaves
Of the peepal tree.
The soothing air
Softens the heat soaked earth.

It's time, it's time
To keep all your work at rest.
It's time, it's time
To close your eyes
It's time, it's time
To bid your friends good byes.
***

Dawn

The cottage rows
Bathed in sunshine
The little sparrows
 All in a spree
The calves nodding their
Hornless head
Bid their parents
To join the farmers.

It's time, it's time
To begin your days
It's time, it's time
For the humble lays
It's time, it's the time
For the earth never rests.
