The Empowered Glare
She hid behind
seven veils!
expecting time to change her fate.
Swallowed her pride,
pushed in obscurity,
by the dominating tendency of patriarchy!
Swollen, hurt, burdened eyes,
wrinkled body before time,
shoulders hunched,
Spike like bones screamed to be cushioned by flesh.
Her looks full of anguish and fear,
brought only sighs and tears!
Little arms threw up and wailed,
jerking her back to her present state!
She feared the same to be her daughter's fate.
Swore to herself to be strong and wise in ways of life;
Shook herself and threw back her veil!
Took the small, frail form in her arms,
and promised to keep the smile
on her face.
She picked up the quill to break barriers,
made her mind free of dark failures!
She wore her armour, shield to battle with the enemies in fields!
Earned her bread with dignity and pride,
swore to crush man in his game of power, terror and triumph!
Spirited, optimistic she
marched independently!
Patriarchy challenged, became
weak and dependent.
But she kept her ammunition in her glare, if he revealed his ugly psyche.
Fate changes, only when we stand for ourselves,
Why should today's Rani Padmini immolate herself and die?
but try to survive when others try to mistreat and dishonour her sky!
Life is to be lived with noble intent,
but to be confronted at a crooked bend,
for her to survive
and give posterity a liberated life .
Now her glare full of curse, deterred him to even stare!
