One life

Eliza Segiet

Eliza Segiet

(Translated Ula de B)

A human is unusual?
The creator of hatred and love,
wars and peace,
acceptance of difference and its intolerance.

Is a skin color, faith
a reason,
for aggression to take away the future,
crash the dreams?

Who forbids to think,
to distinguish good from much worse,
whose name is the evil.

Even if the seeming tradition
commands something else,
it is worth to open the heart
to love and understanding.

REALNESS

To be like until now?
For what?
It is worth experiencing life more fully.

Discovery of talent within oneself -
the beginning of creativity.

Not quantity, but quality
guarantee the joy of existence.

Radium and polonium
she discovered -
a wife, mother,
a woman with imagination.

It is not a delusion, but realness.
Not mannequins and robots,
but the mind allows
to build the world.

VOICE

She did not want to be invisible,
considered the weaker one.
She decided to be creative.
She began to fight
for her freedom and independence.

When she came
out of her supposedly safe world,
she saw the wrongs that are happening around.

She could think,
she distinguished good from evil.

Now she is fighting for peace, equality and love.

She ceased to be just a wife and a mother.
She is a woman
who regained her surname
and with it shows to the world
that a wardrobe full of shoes and skirts
is not an obstacle
- to have a voice.

MYTH

There is no longer a myth
that a woman is home, family
and dependence on husband’s power.

There is no longer a myth
that the latter are better,
that they can do more.

The former can also
make dreams come true.

There is no longer a myth
that her place is the underground.

Women and men
are People
with free will,
with the right to decide.

Labyrinth

In the vortex of dance,
wandering in the labyrinth of time
she saw
the ephemerality of existence.
Today turns into yesterday
as in the Heraklite river
- fluid, smooth.
Although trees live longer than humans,
slouching between them
one can see the scattered dandelions.
And behind a tall wall of boxwood
there is everything
one cannot go back to.
Every ray of the sun
is a hope for existence,
even though
at some point it will
not allow for a gust of life.

Signs of Time

Embraced by gentleness of words,
aroused by beauty
she sets imagination into motion.

She didn't know
if—as before—
it was just
the waves talking to each other.
Did she really hear them?

I know
that she could live
in a place,
where crystalline sand
covers her wet feet,
where the signs of time are enshrouded by a wave.

The sea
could drown out her memories.

She Was Far Away

Somewhere
in the midst of the theatre of life
she sought shelter
to not return to the past.
She could not.
It followed her.

She could not forget
the pattering of German officers
and fear
is it today?

She hid in her
the past time-
like a stone
holds onto eternity.
